BATON ROUGE – LSU gymnast Alyona Shchennikova has been named the Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Shchennikova put together a career night on Friday against No. 1 Florida. She set or matched career highs on all three events she competed. Shchennikova set a new high on vault with a 9.925. The sophomore matched career highs on bars and floor with a 9.95 and 9.925.
