Former New Orleans Saints special teams coach Greg McMahon, who was dismissed following the end of the 2016 season, reportedly has been hired as a support staffer at LSU.
The Advocate of Baton Rouge reports that McMahon — who had been the Saints’ special teams coordinator since 2008 and on the Saints’ staff since ’06 — will be a consultant/analyst for Ed Orgeron. He won’t be allowed to coach on the field but will be able to help out in the film room and with player evaluations.
LSU does not currently have a special teams coordinator.
