Former Purdue starting quarterback Danny Etling is in the thick of the LSU QB battle this spring, pushing returning starter Brandon Harris.
Etling, a 6-3, 226-pound fourth-year junior, is a former four-star recruit from South Vigo High in Terre Haute, Indiana, the same high school that also graduated LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron.
After starting 12 games at Purdue – the final seven of his freshman season and first five as a sophomore before losing starting job after he was 2-10 as a starter – Etling decided to transfer to LSU last June.
In 13 career games at Purdue, Etling completed 238-of-429 passes (55 percent) for 2,490 yards, 16 TDs and 12 interceptions.
