With the departure of two players during fall camp, LSU opened up two scholarships in its 85-man limit.
LSU coach Ed Orgeron filled those two openings with a pair of walk-ons Friday when he awarded scholarships to linebacker Jonathan Rucker and quarterback Caleb Lewis.
"We were able to award to young men scholarships this week," Orgeron told reporters on Saturday. "Awfully excited to award those two young men scholarshipls. I wish we could have given more. More guys deserve it but that's all we have."
Orgeron raved about Rucker's ability during the week and said he could see some time at linebacker in the rotation and also would be a starter for LSU on special teams.
