Oregon State's Luke Heimlich, the Pac-12 Pitcher of the year for the No. 1 ranked Beavers, has been identified as a registered sex offender by The Oregonian newspaper.
What started as a simple background check for a feature story on Heimlich escalated into much more when Oregonian reporter Danny Moran ran Heinrich's name through the Oregon courts database. It revealed Heimlich had been cited in April for failing to update his sex offender registration in in Benton County.
Then, Moran requested court documents in Washington state, where the molestation occurred. The public records reveal what happened and include a short admission of guilt written in Heimlich's own hand.
