ATLANTA - After three years as Alabama's offensive coordinator under Nick Saban, Lane Kiffin has received Saban's blessing to again become a head coach.
At Friday's 25th annual SEC championship pregame press conference which first featured Florida coach Jim McElwain and then Saban talking about Saturday's game, Saban was asked if Kiffin was ready to become a head coach again.
"Absolutely," Saban said of Kiffin, who's also new LSU coach Ed Orgeron's prime target to become the Tigers' offensive coordinator. "I think he's proven, when he was a head coach (at USC and Tennessee), he had a reasonably good amount of success (35-21 in 51/2 seasons), much more than I think he gets credit for.
