NFL conference championship games feature 44 SEC players

Sunday’s NFL Conference Championship games will feature 44 former SEC players, more than any other conference. I’m only taking into account the active rosters. Arizona’s Tyrann Mathieu, for instance, doesn’t count. The LSU star suffered a torn ACL in December.

Among the other Power 5 conferences, the Big 10 ranks second with 31 followed by the ACC with 27, Pac-12 with 26 and Big 12 at 20.

Equally not surprising when investigating SEC representation on the rosters of the top four NFL teams, Alabama has the most former players with seven. Dont’a Hightower (Patriots), Michael Williams (Patriots), Roman Harper (Panthers), Kevin Norwood (Panthers), Evan Mathis (Broncos), Rashad Johnson (Cardinals), and Ed Stinson (Cardinals) are the ex-Bama players taking the field.
