New LSU QB Danny Etling now the toast of the town

BATON ROUGE, La. – Life is different for Danny Etling now.

And from the sound of things, he wouldn’t want it any other way.

The role of college quarterback lends itself to heavy scrutiny no matter where a player lays his head at night. Make that an SEC town and the scrutiny ratchets up more. Add LSU as a variable and a ravenous fan base so eager for a quarterback who fits with the myriad talented athletes the Tigers pull in on a regular basis, and you have what Etling is living right now.

After a two-year stint at Purdue, when he started 12 games before losing the starting job to current Florida starter Austin Appleby, Etling transferred and found a cozy landing place in Baton Rouge – largely because of a relationship with LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, a fellow native of Terre Haute, Ind.
