BATON ROUGE -- The LSU men's basketball team used an 18-2 run midway through the first half to defeat Gardner-Webb, 78-57, on Wednesday evening.
LSU (5-4) welcomed mid-season transfer Craig Victor II and senior Keith Hornsby - who missed the first seven games of the season following surgery - to the Maravich Center. The duo combined for 24 points, while freshman Ben Simmons put together a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Tigers built a 19-point halftime lead, 42-23, but allowed Gardner-Webb (4-7) to stay within shouting distance with a poor effort at the free throw line (12 of 29).
