Fresh off their heroics in LSU’s 37-34 win in The Swamp, freshman quarterback Max Johnson and sophomore kicker Cade York were named the SEC’s offensive and special teams player of the week.
Johnson made the first start of his LSU career and excelled, completing 21 of 36 passes for 239 yards and threw three touchdowns. He is the first LSU quarterback to ever throw three touchdowns in Gainesville. Johnson is also the first true freshman quarterback in school history to win SEC player of the week.
York was a perfect 3-3 on field goals Saturday night, including his game-winning 57-yard kick with 23 seconds to play.
