Wanted: One young, male tiger -- currently residing at a rescue facility -- to prowl, play and pose for pictures in a habitat undergoing renovations amidst the stately oaks and broad magnolias on the campus of LSU. Must be willing to go by the name Mike VII, but unlike previous "Mikes" won't be required to attend home football games to scare the bejesus out of opposing teams. Interested felines should contact David Baker, the university's attending veterinarian.
The search continues for a new live tiger mascot to join LSU's incoming freshman class in August, but perhaps the bigger story is the decision to no longer ask the tiger to wedge himself into a truck-pulled cage on home football Saturday's for the traditional trip inside Tiger Stadium.
