LSU's Mad Hatter ride brought dizzying heights and subterranean lows

In seven of his 12 seasons Les Miles won at least 10 games, and it likely would have been eight had not the 2015 opener vs. McNeese State been cancelled because of bad weather.

Miles' tenure at LSU has been a roller-coaster ride of dizzying heights and subterranean lows, finally bottoming out with his ouster.

He leaves LSU as the second-winningest coach in school history –- 114-34 -- behind Charles McClendon, who went 137-59-7 in 18 seasons. But Miles also left an indelible impression on the job with his ability to coach through crises, his use of trick plays, his fourth-down gambles, a willingness to promote the program any way possible, an exhibited warmth toward family, players and coaching staff, his dry wit and his "unorthodox" use of language that often left observers laughing or scratching their heads.
