After 89 college pitching appearances, LSU fifth-year senior Hunter Newman has proven a few things entering a rare third College World Series trip.
The obvious is he can pitch in any situation, as a starter, middle reliever and closer.
"Whatever the coach wants me to do," said Newman, who has a career ERA of 1.81 with 22 saves and a 7-2 record. "It feels good closing out the game, because that's usually the three hardest outs to get. I like it a lot."
Also, he's shown as the Tigers' closer he doesn't require a bazooka throwing arm to get the job done.
