LSU wide receiver D.J. Chark always has had the measurables and athleticism; the production always has been the problem.
Chark measured in at 6 feet 3 and 199 pounds, and he flashed his athleticism Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine. He was clocked at 4.34 seconds in the 40 and had a 40-inch vertical jump; both figures were the best by any receiver at the combine.
While Chark had just 66 receptions in his four seasons at LSU – that’s five fewer than Texas A&M’s Christian Kirk had just in 2017 – that likely won’t faze some NFL decision-makers; after all, all you have to do is pop in video of LSU’s offense in his four seasons and realize quarterback play was an issue for all four years and play-calling was a problem in his first three.
