LSU junior righthander Alex Lange was the first Tiger picked in the Major League Baseball Draft Monday, going to the Chicago Cubs with the 30th overall choice, the last pick in the first round.
Lange, 9-5 with a 2.92 earned run average after Saturday's no-decision in LSU's Super Regional victory against Mississippi State, led the SEC in strikeouts. He increased his total to 134 in 111 innings with 10 against State.
Lange's career numbers: 29-9 record with a 2.89 ERA and 390 strikeouts, second all-time at LSU to Scott Schultz (409).
