LSU's fourth-ranked gymnastics team failed to make the finals in the NCAA championships Friday night in Fort Worth, finishing fifth in the second set of semifinals.
Oklahoma, even with two falls on the balance beam, finished first in LSU's semifinal final bracket with a score of 197.4, followed by qualifiers Alabama 1971.1 and Auburn 197.075. Nebraska was fourth at 196.675 and LSU fifth at 196.550.
The Tigers, 24-2 on the season, had hoped to improve on their third place national finish from last year.
Too many falls on the balance beam did in the Tigers. Two gymnasts fell off the beam and LSU had its worst team score of the season.
