Mike VI, LSU’s live tiger mascot, was a “week or two” away from death before recently beginning his cancer treatment, LSU veterinarian David Baker told The Advocate.
Mike VI, who was diagnosed last month with spindle cell sarcoma, had a “large, lemon-sized tumor” in the right side of his face before radiation therapy reduced the swelling that had nearly closed his eye shut.
“It’s my perception that had we not done this treatment when we did it, I think in a week or two, it would have been too late,” Baker said. “So it was good that we did it.
