A six-run second inning that included back-to-back home runs by former high school teammates Nick Coomes and Josh Smith highlighted a 10-4 victory against Lamar on Tuesday.
Coomes hit a two-run homer that put LSU ahead 2-1, and Smith followed his former Baton Rouge Catholic teammate with a solo shot that landed in the Alex Box Stadium bleachers in right.
The pair played on a 2013 state title-winning team together, along with LSU's Jordan Romero, who was on base when Coomes homered.
LSU (26-12) loaded the bases later in the inning, and Zach Watson drove in one run with a one-out single and Romero sent home two more with a two-out single.
