OMAHA, Neb. -- Like any pitcher, Florida State's Tyler Holton is at his best when he has command of three pitches -- a fastball, changeup and curve. It's what he's done with the last of those three pitches lately that gives him confidence against LSU hitters in the College World Series opener Saturday night.
"Early in the year I might have been more of a two-pitch guy," Holton said after Florida State's afternoon workout at TD Ameritrade Park. "But once I'm able to throw three pitches for strikes, I'm tough to hit."
That has been the case for the latter part of the season.
