LSU starting linebacker Donnie Alexander will have surgery on a torn right labrum Friday and miss the spring game, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported.
Alexander will participate in practice Tuesday and Thursday while wearing a brace on his right shoulder before his scheduled procedure. LSU’s spring game is scheduled for April 22.
Alexander, a senior, missed last Thursday’s practice after participating in all of the Tigers’ spring drills as the starting middle linebacker. Alexander had 45 tackles, two quarterback hurries and one interception in 2016, when he made two starts in place of an injured Kendell Beckwith.
