Chipola Junior College infielder Andrew Bechtold, an LSU signee, was picked by the Minnesota Twins in the fifth round with the 136th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft Wednesday.
Bechtold played third base for Chipola but could play shortstop if he decides to come to LSU.
The 6-foot, 185-pound Bechtold began his college career at Maryland before transferring to Chipola. As a redshirt freshman in 2016 for the Terrapins, Bechtold played in 53 games with 49 starts. He hit just .218 with five doubles with 19 RBI and 21 runs.
Bechtold made seven starts for Maryland in 2015 before suffering an injury that forced him to miss the rest of the season.
