LSU officially jumped in the race for 2019's premier cornerback Akeem Dent on Friday, when defensive backs coach Corey Raymond notified the rising junior that he had a scholarship offer from the Tigers.
The 6-feet-1, 170-pounder is ranked as the No. 1 cornerback in the country by 247 Sports, and bolsters an offer list that includes in state powers Florida State, Florida and Miami, to go along with overtures from Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee, among many others.
LSU's success in recruiting cornerbacks from south Florida in past recruiting cycles makes this an interesting offer, with past signees from the area including Patrick Peterson and Rashard Robinson.
