LSU never could pull away from a pesky Texas Southern squad on Sautrday and was forced to hit free throws late to hold on to an 88-80 victory at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Antonio Blakeney, Duop Reath and Jalyn Patterson all hit free throws in the final minute of the game for LSU in order to seal the victory.
LSU (7-2) remained unbeaten at home this season with the victory.
Any time LSU tried pulling away, Texas Southern seemed to be able to get right back into the game.
LSU used an 8-0 run to take an early 23-15 lead in the first half and seemed poised at that time to put the game away.
