LSU lost its defensive coordinator Wednesday when Kevin Steele left for Auburn. The Tigers replaced Steele on Friday with one of the hottest coordinators in the nation.
LSU has hired Dave Aranda, 39, away from Wisconsin, where he had spent the past three seasons as DC. He also has been a coordinator at Hawaii (2010-11) and Utah State (2012).
Wisconsin is third in the nation in total defense this season. The Badgers were seventh in 2013 and fourth in 2014.
“Dave will bring different packages and an attacking style to the field,” LSU coach Les Miles said in a statement announcing Aranda’s hiring.
