Paul Mainieri might have needed a pick-me-up just as much as his players. So, in thumbing through his phone sometime late Sunday, the LSU baseball coach came across a top-25 listing and how those teams fared over the previous week.
What he saw provided comfort. It also prompted him to tell his players something as they endured a three-hour wait for their charter plane to arrive in Lexington, Ky.
"I know we sound like the cup-half-full type of guy," Mainieri said Monday. "But what we went through (Sunday) and where we are in the season doesn't make us unique among national powers in the country.
