Y.A. Tittle, the first and only LSU quarterback elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, has died at age 90 in his hometown of Marshall, Texas according to LSU deputy athletic director Verge Ausberry.
Tittle was the NFL's Most Valuable Player four times, winning three of those awards at age 35 and older. In 17 NFL seasons, Tittle completed 2,427 of 4,395 passes for 33,070 yards and 242 touchdowns, with 248 interceptions. He also ran for 39 TDs.
Tittle caught the eyes of pro scouts when LSU coach Bernie Moore switched from a single-wing to a T-formation offense in 1945, and put Tittle at quarterback.
