BATON ROUGE, La. – As soon as news broke Thursday that LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings is transferring, my Twitter timeline and email inbox were filled with celebratory messages. I’m not exactly sure when it became in vogue to celebrate a college student’s shortcomings. It is even stranger when celebrating that failure comes at your expense.
That is the strange paradigm between LSU football fans and quarterback Anthony Jennings, who will transfer after graduating this spring. He will be eligible as a graduate transfer this fall.
Jennings never lived up to the promise he showed in leading a remarkable comeback against Arkansas as a freshman in 2013.
