The LSU Tigers arrived at the SEC Tournament this week in need of a conference tournament championship in order to earn a trip to the Big Dance. They took the first step on Friday in the quarterfinals.
LSU (19-13, 11-7) handed the Tennessee Volunteers (15-19, 6-12) an 84-75 defeat at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, with a solid all-around performance spurring the team to victory.
Freshman guard Antonio Blakeney scored a game-high 22 points, knocking down all nine free throws that he attempted. Blakeney has now connected on 28 consecutive free throw attempts dating back to the Tigers’ Feb.
