LSU weathered a 6 1/2 hour rain delay to advance in the NCAA Regional baseball tournament Friday with a 7-1 victory against Utah Valley Friday at Alex Box Stadium.
The victory puts LSU (43-18) in the 7 p.m. winner's bracket game Saturday against the winner of Game 2 between Southeastern Louisiana and Rice. Those two teams play at 9 a.m. Saturday in a game postponed from the night before. Utah Valley (37-22) plays the loser in an elimination game at 2 p.m.
Jared Poche pitched six strong innings and Jake Fraley hit a two-run home run in the first inning to get the Tigers going.
