Any worries about a hangover effect lingering from the LSU basketball team’s late collapse against the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners last Saturday were swiftly eliminated on Tuesday at Auburn.
The Bayou Bengals took control from the opening tip and Ben Simmons asserted himself on offense, finishing the night with 21 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists, leading his team to an 80-68 victory.
The Tigers return home on Saturday, as they play host to the struggling Mississippi State Bulldogs. If LSU is able to take care of business against the Bulldogs, it will have an opportunity to claim sole possession of the top spot in the SEC.
