The LSU basketball team entered Wednesday’s contest with the South Carolina Gamecocks with an opportunity to remain alone atop the SEC standings.
After an 83-94 defeat highlighted by a horrendous free-throw shooting performance, the Tigers have fallen into a three-way tie with the Gamecocks and Kentucky Wildcats for the top spot in the conference.
LSU connected on just 16-of-28 free-throw attempts, negating an otherwise impressive shooting night.
Antonio Blakeney, Ben Simmons and Keith Hornsby compiled 22, 20 and 14 points for the Tigers, respectively, for the Tigers. The rest of the team combined for only 27 points, however, and LSU was never able to overcome its woes at the free-throw line.
