The seventh-ranked LSU baseball team fell to Alabama by a score of 6-0 in the first game of Saturday’s day-night doubleheader.
For six innings on Saturday afternoon, LSU’s Alex Lange and Alabama’s Geoffrey Bramblett matched each other pitch for pitch before a big seventh inning by Alabama (12-5, 1-0 SEC) led to a 6-0 loss for the Tigers (13-4, 0-1 SEC).
The Crimson Tide, coming into play with a team average of .241, got to Lange in the seventh, striking for four runs on seven hits. The inning started with four consecutive hits, but the Tigers looked poised to get out of the inning down just 2-0 after turning a 1-3 double play.
