The seventh-ranked LSU baseball team avoided being swept by Alabama on Sunday afternoon, needing six eighth-inning runs to come away with a 7-5 victory.
After scoring just three runs in two games on Saturday, LSU continued to struggle at the plate through the first seven innings of Sunday afternoon’s series finale with Alabama. It wasn’t until the bottom of the eighth inning that the Tigers (14-5, 1-2 SEC) finally broke through for six runs on their way to a 7-4 victory over the Crimson Tide (13-6, 2-1 SEC).
Trailing 4-1 in the eighth, LSU loaded the bases with no outs before freshman Brody Wofford delivered a pinch-hit two-run single to cut the deficit to two.
