LSU sophomore defensive end Isaiah Washington is no longer part of the Tigers’ football team, the school confirmed to the Baton Rouge Advocate on Thursday.
After the story was published, Washington took to Twitter.
Washington was ruled ineligible for spring practice in March after reportedly falling below the minimum course number after he dropped a class.
Washington, a former three-star prospect from New Orleans, missed the 2016 season recovering from knee injuries. He appeared in six games as a true freshman in 2015 and recorded three tackles and one forced fumble.
The Advocate reported that he is the eighth player to leave LSU this offseason, following quarterback Brandon Harris (transfer, to North Carolina), cornerback Saivion Smith (transfer, to Mississippi Gulf Coast CC), wide receiver Jazz Ferguson (transfer, to Northwestern State), defensive tackle Travonte Valentine (dismissed), offensive tackle Chidi Okeke (transfer, to Eastern Kentucky), center Andy Dodd (transfer, to McNeese State) and offensive tackle Willie Allen (transfer, to Tyler JC in Tyler, Texas).
