Facing a budget deficit of close to $1 billion for the current fiscal year, and a $2 billion deficit beginning July 1st, Governor John Bel Edwards is pulling out all the stops to grab the attention of the state of Louisiana. In doing so, he has succeeded.
In an effort to gather support for what is being called the largest tax increase in state history, Edwards delivered a shock value-filled address, utilizing scare tactics that resonate with a significant portion of the Louisiana population.
In his address, the recently-elected governor threatened that if recent tax proposals are not accepted, colleges around the state will run out of money before the end of the current semester.
