ORLANDO, Fla. -- Louisville wide receiver Jaylen Smith wanted LSU's Leonard Fournette on the field when the Cardinals take on the Tigers in Saturday's Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl here.
Smith, one of Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson's favorite targets, said the competitor in him appreciates Fournette's uniqueness and is familiar with the junior running back's story. In the same situation, Smith said he would play.
LSU may lost quite a few of impact juniors to the NFL Draft.
But he also sees the sense in Fournette skipping the game to allow a nagging injury fully heal as he prepares for an NFL career, calling Fournette "one of the most stand-up guys in college football.
