Knee braces and high buttocks: 16 checkpoints for NFL scout evaluations

When scouts, coaches and team officials congregate at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, they check everything on a player from the toes up and in every direction, according to NFL scout and consultant Chris Landry of Landryfootball.com.

Ankle thickness, buttocks location, how a player leaves the huddle, knee braces and neck collars are all places scouts go for information, Landry says in this listing. Of course there are many more but it's easy to get an idea of how detailed scouts have to be when looking for strengths, weaknesses and red flags.

Something as simple as a player's "knee bend and the length and duration of the knee bend is directly related to an athletes COD (change of direction) and his closing speed," Landry says.
