Jacksonville State QB Eli Jenkins will test LSU defense

BATON ROUGE, La. – Facing a team with a first-time starting quarterback gave the LSU defense a blend of uncertainty and confidence last week against Wisconsin.

The Tigers’ second test is much different.

When LSU (0-1) takes on Jacksonville State (1-0) Saturday night in the Tigers’ 2016 home opener, there will be plenty of background material on Gamecocks quarterback QB Eli Jenkins, along with a heavy dose of concern. That makes Jenkins this week’s key matchup for LSU.

In a 16-14 loss to Wisconsin, the Tigers surrendered 205 passing yards to fifth-year senior Bart Houston. Jenkins, who is starting for a fourth season in a row, is much different.
