Baton Rouge, La., has seen more than its share of heartache this summer. Police fatally shot Alton Sterling on July 5, an incident that sparked national outrage. This past Sunday, three Baton Rouge law enforcement officers were shot and killed by Gavin Long, who advocated violence in response to incidents of police brutality.
As a show of support for police, LSU’s Tiger Stadium turned blue on two occasions. The first time was Tuesday.
The second lighting occurred Wednesday. Both pictures were taken by Hilary Scheinuk, a photojournalist for the Baton Rouge Advocate.
LSU coach Les Miles has been increasingly visible following both tragedies, expressing his desire for the Baton Rouge community to come together and end the violence.
