It's fitting that two of football's most anticipated annual events, National Signing Day and the Pro Football Hall of Fame's selection announcement, occur within days of each other in the first week of February.
While unrelated, the two events provide an exclamation point to the football season, a near-simultaneous celebration of the sport's future and past.
And more often than not, the Hall of Fame classes provide much-needed perspective to the runaway hype of signing day. This year is no exception.
The Class of 2017 might not be the sexiest class in the history of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but it might the most inspiring.
