If Maryland suddenly shoots to the top of the FBS offensive stats this fall, you can be sure LSU fans will be grumbling about another missed opportunity.
Former LSU offensive coordinator Matt Canada, who had the fourth-highest salary among assistants in college football before his dismissal earlier this month, was officially named Tuesday as offensive coordinator at Maryland.
Canada arrived from Pittsburgh after the 2016 season in a bold bid to renovate LSU’s offense, but he left after one season amid disagreements with Tigers coach Ed Orgeron. Steve Ensminger, the interim offensive coordinator for the latter part of 2016, was installed in Canada’s place earlier this month.
