Former LSU wide receiver Eddie Kennison is en route to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. Destrehan's own Ed Reed, whose job at times was to stop Kennison on the NFL playing field, is headed there, too, alongside him, not against him.
The two former NFL stars are among the class of eight who will be inducted into the Hall Saturday in Natchitoches. Also in the Class of 2017 are longtime LSU gymnastics coach D-D Breaux; pro golfer David Toms; jockey Calvin Borel; and Major League Baseball player Juan Pierre. Two others being inducted posthumously include former Southeastern Louisiana basketball Star C.
