OMAHA, Neb. -- Somewhat lucky to be on base to begin with, Cole Freeman didn't expect to get past second base when Antoine Duplantis singled with one out in the eighth inning.
But once Freeman saw the ball roll past Florida State right fielder Steven Wells, everything changed.
Freeman's mad dash to third followed with a sprint to home for the tying run in LSU's 5-4 comeback against Florida State in a College World Series opener Saturday at TD Ameritrae Park.
Freeman scored on a play that included three errors -- the first two by Wells for his fielding miscue and a wild throw that followed.
