Baton Rouge, La. – Sean Burrell and Sean Dixon-Bodie, two incoming freshmen on the LSU track and field team, were named Gatorade Athletes of the Year in their respective states on Monday for the sport of track and field. Burrell, a native of Zachary, La., was Louisiana's winner, and Dixon-Bodie claimed the honor in his home state of Connecticut.
For Burrell, it's his second-straight season garnering this honor as he was also named the Gatorade Track & Field Athlete of the Year in 2019. Burrell won four state titles while competing for Zachary High School at the 2020 LHSAA Indoor State Championships hosted at LSU's Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.
