Bullpen collapses late as Missouri routs LSU baseball

LSU will have to try again to clinch its first conference series of the season.

Missouri defeated LSU 12-6 on Saturday night at Alex Box Stadium and tied the series using a eight-run eighth inning and a dominant pitching performance on the mound from Michael Plassmeyer.

LSU's right-handed hurler on the mound, Caleb Gilbert, faced an aggressive Missouri lineup, that worked long at-bats vs. Gilbert. After being held scoreless through 4.2 innings, Missouri's Bret Bond finally broke through vs. Gilbert.

Bond worked a seven-pitch at-bat that led to a two-out, two-run homer, which gave Missouri a 2-1 lead in the fifth.
