Former LSU defensive end Barkevious Mingo is on the move to the New England Patriots.
The Cleveland Browns traded Mingo to the Patriots Thursday afternoon, a story first reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. They received a 2017 fifth-round draft pick in return.
Mingo was the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Browns, but failed to make a significant impact during his three seasons in Cleveland. He was entering the final season of his rookie contract this fall after the Browns declined to pick up his fifth-year option in May.
Converted to outside linebacker in the NFL, Mingo started three games in his rookie season and 11 more in 2014, but his playing time plunged last year.
