The Cleveland Browns have declined to pick up the fifth-year option on former LSU Tiger Barkevious Mingo's rookie contract, Cleveland.com reported Tuesday.
Mingo, the No. 6 overall pick by the Browns in 2013 would be due $11.925 million, or the transition tag number for linebackers, a league source said in the story. He will likely be an unrestricted free agent after this season. The Browns can also extend his contract if they choose, but they'll likely see how 2016 plays out.
Mingo, a defensive end at LSU and an outside linebacker for the Browns, has only seven sacks in his three seasons.
