Bill Cannon is the only LSU player to ever win the Heisman and he might be the most beloved player in LSU football history.
Former LSU defensive backs/current Arizona Cardinals teammates Tyrann Mathieu and Patrick Peterson recently ran into Cannon. So, naturally, the trio posed for a picture.
Cannon helped the Tigers win the national title in 1958, then won the Heisman in ’59. On Halloween night in ’59, he was involved in one of the most famous plays in SEC history — an 89-yard punt return in the fourth quarter that propelled top-ranked LSU to a 7-3 win over third-ranked Ole Miss.
