Behind enemy lines: Miami loses tight end for 4 months: report

Miami announced Wednesday that tight Michael Irvin II, son of Pro Football Hall of Fame and former Hurricanes' wide receiver Michael Ervin, will undergo surgery for a torn MCL.

Irvin caught nine passes for 78 yards in 12 games last season. He was ticketed for more playing time this season because of the departure of last year's starter. He is expected to be out four months, so a medical redshirt is likely.
