Former LSU baseball player Austin Nola cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A to join the New Orleans Baby Cakes.
MLB.com reported the move Thursday (April 5) in advance of the Cakes season opener against the Nashville Sounds at the Shrine on Airline. The Cakes said he will be the starting catcher and bat ninth.
Also, Catcher Austin Nola and RHP Severino Gonzalez cleared waivers and both were outrighted to Triple-A New Orleans @Marlins

The Miami Marlins designated Nola for assignment March 29 and no team put in a claim for him.
